Fare Disclosure
1. PURPOSE AND REGULATORY BASIS
Tripphilia.com, operated by Hydra Travels Inc. (ARC No. 45572424), is required under U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations — specifically 14 C.F.R. Part 399 and the Full Fare Advertising Rule — to disclose the full, all-inclusive price of air transportation to the customer prior to purchase. This Fare Disclosure document fulfills that obligation and explains in detail the components that constitute the total amount charged to any customer purchasing air transportation through Tripphilia.com.
This disclosure applies exclusively to air transportation products. Non-air products (hotels, car rentals, cruises, tours) are subject to separate pricing disclosures provided at checkout for each product category.
Nothing in this Fare Disclosure creates an obligation on the Agency to sell any fare or hold any price beyond the time it is quoted. Fares are dynamic and subject to change until the ticket is issued.
2. FARE STRUCTURE — AIR TRANSPORTATION
2.1 Base Fare
The base fare is the carrier-published tariff for transportation between the origin and destination city pair, applicable to the fare basis code and booking class selected. Base fares are set and controlled exclusively by the airline. The Agency has no authority to alter, override, or discount base fares beyond any promotional arrangement established by the airline.
Base fares are quoted in U.S. Dollars (USD) unless otherwise indicated. Where fares are sourced in a foreign currency, conversion is performed at the exchange rate prevailing at the time of ticketing. Exchange rate fluctuations between quote and ticket issuance may result in minor price adjustments; the customer will be notified before ticketing is completed.
2.2 Government Taxes and Fees
The following government-mandated charges are collected on all domestic and international air tickets sold in the United States. These amounts are remitted directly to the respective governmental authority and are not retained by the Agency or the carrier as revenue.
| Tax / Fee | Applicable Route | Authority |
|---|---|---|
| U.S. Federal Excise Tax (7.5% of base fare) | Domestic U.S. | IRS / U.S. Government |
| Domestic Flight Segment Fee ($4.70 per segment) | Each domestic takeoff/landing | FAA / U.S. Government |
| Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) — up to $18.00 round trip | Domestic & International | Participating airports |
| September 11 Security Fee ($5.60 per one-way trip) | Domestic & International | TSA / DHS |
| U.S. International Departure Tax | International departures from U.S. | U.S. Government |
| U.S. International Arrival Tax | International arrivals to U.S. | U.S. Government |
| Customs User Fee | International arrivals to U.S. | CBP / U.S. Government |
| APHIS (Agriculture Inspection Fee) | International arrivals to U.S. | USDA |
| Foreign Government Departure Taxes | Varies by destination country | Foreign governments |
| Foreign Airport Charges | Varies by airport | Foreign airport authorities |
Tax amounts shown above are representative of current rates as of the effective date of this document. Actual amounts are calculated at the time of ticketing and displayed in the checkout summary. Tax amounts are subject to change by the relevant authority without notice.
3. CARRIER-IMPOSED FEES
In addition to government taxes, airlines impose their own mandatory fees that form part of the total ticket price. These fees are set by the carrier, not the Agency. The following categories of carrier-imposed fees are commonly included in the total fare:
| Carrier Fee Type | Description | Disclosed At |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel Surcharge (YQ/YR) | Applied on international and some domestic routes to offset fuel costs | Checkout — itemized in fare breakdown |
| Carrier-Imposed Surcharge | Miscellaneous carrier surcharges; varies by airline and route | Checkout — itemized in fare breakdown |
| Infrastructure / System Fee | Carrier's internal system recovery charges on certain routes | Checkout — itemized in fare breakdown |
Carrier-imposed fees are mandatory and cannot be waived by the Agency. Customers must accept these charges as part of the total fare. These fees are included in the total price displayed at checkout and are not added after the quoted amount.
4. AGENCY SERVICE FEES
The Agency charges service fees as compensation for the reservation, ticketing, advisory, and fulfillment services it provides. Agency service fees are separate from base fares, carrier fees, and government taxes. They are disclosed at checkout before purchase is completed and are non-refundable once services have been rendered.
| Service | Fee Disclosure |
|---|---|
| New Booking — Air | Displayed and accepted at checkout, per passenger |
| Ticket Reissue / Change | Disclosed prior to processing; separate from carrier change fees |
| Cancellation Processing | Disclosed prior to processing; separate from carrier cancellation penalties |
| Name Correction | Disclosed prior to processing |
| Upgrade Processing | Disclosed prior to processing where applicable |
Agency service fees are disclosed as a line item in the total fare summary at checkout. The total price shown to the customer includes base fare, carrier fees, government taxes, and Agency service fees. No additional charges are applied after the total is displayed and accepted.
5. ANCILLARY FEES — NOT INCLUDED IN TICKET PRICE
The following charges are NOT included in the quoted ticket price and are collected separately — either by the carrier directly or by the Agency on behalf of the carrier. These are optional or conditional charges that vary by airline, fare class, route, and individual passenger choices.
| Ancillary Item | Applicability | Collected By |
|---|---|---|
| Checked Baggage | Varies by carrier, route, and fare class | Carrier at check-in or online |
| Carry-On Bag Fee | Applicable on Basic Economy and ultra-low-cost carriers | Carrier |
| Seat Selection | Standard, preferred, or extra-legroom seats on most carriers | Carrier or Agency if booked through Agency |
| Meal / Special Services | In-flight meals and accessibility services on select carriers | Carrier |
| In-Flight Wi-Fi | Where available, carrier-specific pricing applies | Carrier |
| Priority Boarding | Carrier-specific, may be included in fare or charged separately | Carrier |
| Travel Insurance | Optional; offered at checkout through third-party insurer | Third-party insurer |
| Lounge Access | Airport lounge access; carrier- or program-specific | Carrier or lounge operator |
Customers are advised to review the specific ancillary fee schedules of the operating carrier before travel. Carrier fee schedules are subject to change without notice and are not within the control of the Agency.
6. FARE RULES AND RESTRICTIONS
6.1 Fare Basis Codes
Each ticket is issued under a specific fare basis code that governs the conditions of travel. Fare basis codes are assigned by the airline and determine the applicability of restrictions including advance purchase requirements, minimum/maximum stay rules, blackout dates, stopovers, and change/cancellation fees. The applicable fare basis code is printed on the e-ticket itinerary and can be referenced on the carrier's website.
6.2 Common Fare Restrictions
| Fare Category | Changeability | Refundability | Typical Advance Purchase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Economy / Light | Not permitted | Non-refundable | 3–21 days |
| Economy Saver / Sale | Fee applies | Non-refundable | 7–21 days |
| Standard Economy | Fee applies | Varies by carrier | 0–7 days |
| Flexible Economy (Y class) | No fee in most cases | Fully refundable | None |
| Premium Economy | Fee applies | Varies by carrier | None |
| Business Class | No fee (flexible fare) | Fully or partially refundable | None |
| First Class | No fee (flexible fare) | Fully or partially refundable | None |
The restrictions above are indicative. The definitive fare rules for any specific ticket are those published by the carrier in its fare tariff at the time of booking. Customers are advised to review fare rules prior to purchase. The Agency will provide fare rule summaries upon request before ticketing.
7. PRICE GUARANTEE AND FARE VOLATILITY
Fares displayed on Tripphilia.com are real-time and sourced from airline inventory systems via the Global Distribution System (GDS). Displayed fares are subject to change without notice due to the following factors:
- Real-time seat inventory fluctuations controlled by the airline's revenue management system
- Expiry of limited-time promotional fares
- Changes in currency exchange rates for international fares priced in foreign currency
- GDS data feed latency or technical refresh delays
- Carrier-initiated fare adjustments effective immediately
A fare is guaranteed only upon successful ticket issuance. The Agency shall not be held responsible for fare increases occurring between the time a fare is displayed and the time the ticket is issued, provided the customer is notified before the transaction is completed.
7.1 Fare Lock (Where Available)
Where the Agency or carrier offers a fare lock or hold option, the following conditions apply: (a) the fare lock fee is non-refundable; (b) the lock period is as disclosed at the time of purchase; (c) expiry of the lock period without ticketing releases the hold and does not guarantee fare reinstatement.
8. CURRENCY AND INTERNATIONAL PRICING
All fares are quoted in U.S. Dollars (USD) by default on Tripphilia.com. Where a fare is sourced in a foreign currency, the displayed USD equivalent is calculated using the mid-market exchange rate at the time of the quote. The actual charged amount in USD will reflect the exchange rate prevailing at the time of payment processing.
| Scenario | Treatment | Customer Impact |
|---|---|---|
| USD fare, USD payment | No conversion required | None |
| Foreign currency fare, USD payment | Converted at prevailing rate at ticketing | Minor variance possible between quote and ticketing |
| Foreign currency fare, significant FX movement | Customer notified before ticketing | Option to accept revised price or cancel with no charge |
9. TOTAL PRICE DISCLOSURE AT CHECKOUT
In compliance with 14 C.F.R. § 399.84 and the U.S. DOT's Full Fare Advertising Rule, Tripphilia.com displays the total price of air transportation — inclusive of all taxes, fees, and surcharges — at the point at which a specific itinerary is presented to the customer for purchase.
The total price breakdown at checkout includes:
| Line Item | Included in Total Price at Checkout |
|---|---|
| Base Fare | Yes |
| Carrier-Imposed Surcharges (YQ/YR) | Yes |
| U.S. Government Taxes | Yes |
| Foreign Government Taxes | Yes (where assessable) |

| Agency Service Fee | Yes — disclosed as a separate line item |
| Optional Travel Insurance | Separately disclosed; opt-in only |
| Checked Baggage Fees | Not included — carrier-collected |
| Seat Selection Fees | Not included unless purchased through Agency at time of booking |
The customer's payment authorization constitutes acceptance of the total price as disclosed at checkout. No additional charges are applied after payment is processed except for ancillary items expressly excluded from the ticket price as described in Section 5.
10. TICKET VALIDITY
Ticket validity is determined by the fare rules of the issued ticket and not by the Agency. General validity guidelines are as follows:
| Fare Type | Typical Validity Period | Travel Must Commence |
|---|---|---|
| Promotional / Sale Fare | Specific dates as shown on ticket | On the ticketed date — no flexibility |
| Standard Economy | 1 year from date of issue | Per fare rules |
| Flexible / Business / First | 1 year from first travel date | Per fare rules |
| Award / Redemption Ticket | Varies by program rules | Per issuing loyalty program |
Tickets that are not used on the specified travel dates and are not covered by a waiver from the carrier are forfeited in accordance with the carrier's fare rules. The Agency has no authority to extend ticket validity beyond what the carrier permits.
11. CODESHARE AND INTERLINE DISCLOSURES
Travel sold through Tripphilia.com may involve codeshare or interline arrangements whereby: (a) the ticket is issued by one carrier but operated by another; (b) connecting flights are operated by carriers with different baggage policies, check-in procedures, and customer service standards.
In all such cases, the Agency discloses the operating carrier at the time of booking. Customers are advised that: (a) baggage fees and policies of the operating carrier apply; (b) the marketing carrier's ticket number and booking code govern customer service contacts; (c) loyalty program credit accrues per the earning rules of the respective programs.
12. FARE COMPARISON DISCLOSURE
Tripphilia.com may display fares sourced from multiple airlines and fare classes for the same itinerary. The lowest fare displayed may be associated with the most restrictive conditions. Customers are responsible for selecting the fare that meets their travel needs. The Agency makes no representation that any fare displayed is the absolute lowest available in the market at any given time.
Where the Agency recommends a specific fare, that recommendation is advisory only. The customer retains sole discretion in selecting the product purchased.
